How to choose the right sofa for your room
Practical planning advice. Confirm product specifications and options directly with AK.
Start with your room dimensions and intended usage. Allow enough circulation space and decide whether you need formal seating, relaxed lounging, or a modular arrangement. Upholstery and frame construction should be compared with your budget and maintenance preferences.
Measure the route, not just the room
Measure the wall where the sofa will sit, then mark its footprint on the floor with tape. Check the route from the entrance, including stair turns, lift doors and internal doorways. A sofa that fits the room may still be difficult to bring inside.
Test the everyday arrangement
Leave space to walk past the seating and reach windows, switches and storage. Try the arrangement with the coffee table in place. A chaise changes the walking route; check which side works before discussing an L-shaped sofa.
Compare comfort and care
Sit with your feet supported and try the seat depth in your usual reading or lounging position. Ask about the frame, cushion filling, removable covers and cleaning instructions. Choose upholstery with your household, pets and frequency of use in mind.
Bring to the showroom
Bring a room sketch, access measurements and photographs taken from opposite corners. Note your preferred seat count, maximum width and budget. Ask AK to confirm the final dimensions, fabric, delivery access and quote before ordering.
