What to ask before ordering a custom wardrobe
Practical planning advice. Confirm product specifications and options directly with AK.
Record wall-to-wall dimensions, ceiling height, skirting, outlets, switches and door clearances. Decide on hanging length, shelving, drawer requirements, access and ventilation before finalizing your design.
Record the whole wall
Measure the available width at several heights and the ceiling at both ends. Note skirting, beams, sockets, switches and nearby windows. Treat your own measurements as a planning brief; confirm the final site measurements before manufacture.
Make a storage inventory
List what you actually keep: long clothing, folded items, bags, luggage and smaller accessories. Separate everyday items from occasional storage. This makes the shelf, hanging and drawer layout more useful than starting with the door design.
Check access before choosing doors
Mark how far hinged doors and drawers will open. Check the bed and bedside furniture do not block them. For sliding doors, discuss which compartments can be reached at the same time and how drawers align with the opening.
Confirm what the quote includes
Ask for the internal layout, board and backing specifications, edge finish, hinges or tracks, handles and installation scope. Discuss damp walls, ventilation and access for cleaning before settling on a finish.
