Designing a dining space that lasts
Practical planning advice. Confirm product specifications and options directly with AK.
Leave circulation space around the table, choose seating proportions that suit the table height, and select surfaces that match the household’s daily routine.
Plan for the chairs in use
Mark the table and pull the chairs out as if people were sitting down. Walk around the arrangement and check nearby doors and cupboards. The useful footprint is larger than the tabletop, especially beside a wall or passage.
Match shape to the room
Compare a round table for conversation with a rectangular table for a longer room. Look at the base as well as the top: legs and pedestals affect where chairs fit and how comfortably people can sit.
Check seat and table together
Try the chair with the proposed table, including armrest clearance and legroom. Check the full arrangement if you plan to use benches or extra chairs. For an extending table, confirm the space needed in both positions.
Choose for everyday meals
Discuss heat, spills, scratches and cleaning before selecting a surface. Bring your room measurements, typical seat count and occasional guest count. Confirm the table, chairs, finish and delivery access together in the quote.
